Neuro acupuncture, also known as scalp acupuncture, is a distinct branch of acupuncture that targets precise zones on the scalp corresponding to specific areas of the brain and nervous system, rather than the body's classical meridian points.
It has been used clinically across Asia for over 50 years, and is increasingly adopted by hospitals and practitioners across Europe and the US to support neurological and pain conditions alongside conventional care.
Neuro acupuncture is a particular specialism of ours, and one that relatively few TCM practices in the Netherlands are trained in. We have a strong track record utilising it for conditions including Multiple Sclerosis, fibromyalgia, cluster headache, and migraine, among others.
As with all our acupuncture, we use exceptionally fine needles made in Japan and South Korea, considerably thinner than the needles used by most TCM practitioners, to keep treatment as comfortable as possible. Scalp needling is typically shallow, and many clients find it's barely felt once the needles are in place.
Neuro acupuncture is woven into the integrative treatment plans we build for a range of neurological and chronic conditions, including:
We support mobility, flares, and neuropathic sensations alongside your conventional MS care, which many patients find helps reduce symptom burden over time. Learn more about our approach to multiple sclerosis
We address widespread pain and heightened sensitivity at a central nervous system level, rather than treating individual pain sites in isolation.
We access scalp zones linked to headache pathways to help reduce the frequency and intensity of attacks.
Scalp points targeting the trigeminal system are used alongside auricular (QRNow®) acupuncture for both prevention and rapid relief. Learn more about our approach to migraine
Working alongside our wider pain-relief approach, targeting pain signalling at a nervous-system level rather than the pain site alone. Learn more about our approach to chronic & neuropathic pain
From experience, neuropathy of all kinds responds particularly well to this approach, and it's an area we're especially experienced in treating, including diabetic neuropathy and the neuropathic pain associated with MS. Learn more about our approach to neuropathy
Supporting the profound fatigue and cognitive difficulties associated with these conditions as part of an integrative treatment plan. Learn more about our approach to me/cfs & long covid
Scalp acupuncture is widely used internationally to support motor and functional recovery after stroke, alongside conventional rehabilitation.
Used to support tremor, rigidity, and mobility challenges as part of a wider, conventionally-led care plan.
Scalp points linked to the auditory system are used to help reduce the perceived intensity of tinnitus.

We draw on several established neuro acupuncture systems, selecting whichever combination best suits your presentation:
Where it's relevant, we may ask you to gently move, or otherwise trigger your symptoms, while the needles are in place. This live feedback helps us confirm and fine-tune the effect in real time, rather than waiting until your next visit to find out whether it's working.
Neuro acupuncture is most often woven into a broader, integrative treatment plan rather than used alone. During your initial consultation, we'll discuss your condition and history in detail to decide whether, and how, it fits your care.
Neuro acupuncture is a complementary therapy and does not replace conventional medical care or advice from your GP or specialist.
